Beneath the Skin is a multi-media project based on the music of the Icelandic band Of Monsters and Men, inspired by the group’s consistently abstract and colorful lyrics, as well as their fantastical music videos and other visuals.

Empty Vessel, Crooked Teeth is a book that gathers articles and interviews from the band about the making of their second album, “Beneath the Skin,” as well as a lyrical breakdown of each song on the album. Collages accompanied by song lyrics serve as section dividers throughout the book.

The interaction-based aspect of the project is a website that creates a dedicated space to listen to the whole album. Each song is accompanied by a collection of cut-out collage pieces that the user can manipulate while listening to create their own album artwork.
